Overwatch 2 Is Nerfing Junker Queen And Buffing Several Heroes In Season 5

As the fourth season of Overwatch 2 draws to a close, players can expect to see another round of gameplay and balance adjustments when Season 5 begins next week. In a recent blog post, Game Director Aaron Keller outlined changes to several heroes and gameplay mechanics coming to the hero shooter when the next season begins.

According to Keller, Junker Queen will receive nerfs to her self-heal ability and longer cooldown for her ultimate, as her win rate and pick rate have surged during Season 4 due to previous updates. Lifeweaver, on the other hand, will see general buffs to healing and DPS, an added heal to Life Grip, and a slightly reduced hitbox.

Keller also addressed the community’s concerns regarding one-shot kills, specifically focusing on Widow and Hanzo. To address this issue, Widow will experience increased damage falloff, while Hanzo’s base damage will be reduced, and Sonic Arrow will be much easier to spot. Additionally, the development team will closely examine the impact and viability of one-shot mechanics to ensure a healthy gameplay experience.

Crowd control adjustments are also on the horizon for Season 5. Mei’s primary fire will introduce a “soft CC” effect, slowing down opponents, while Cassidy’s magnetic grenade will be revamped to apply a slow while also blocking movement abilities.

Season 5 is set to kick off on June 13th. In the meantime, you can check out the official Season 5 trailer below.
