Pokemon GO Some New Questions Answered
There has been a lot of hype recently around the Niantic (Ingress) and Pokemon collaboration— Pokemon GO. In a recent press conference, both Niantic and The Pokemon Company— including Shigeru Miyamoto— answered questions for their mobile game. Below you can find the over 1 hour long video and a few of the questions below if thats too long for you.
How are pokemon going to appear? How are you going to catch them game mechanics wise?
Mobile device will have a map similar to the Ingress games and you will walk to that location to find them and try to catch them. You can then use those Pokemon to battle other players.
Do you feel this will compete with the nintendo ds products?
Extensive talks have been had to ensure that the mobile device game will not cannibalize the portal gaming system titles. Rather than cannibalizing the games, they are meant to augment them.
Is this going to be free to play or pay to play?
Free to start. You the game for free and there are in game purchases within the app.
Where will the game be releasing?
In of the regions, the game is planned for a worldwide release and as many languages as possible.
Where are the Pokemon going to appear in the world? Will water pokemon be near water for example?
This is one of the biggest topics discussed internally. Since kids will be playing the game a lot of thought has been put into where to put the Pokemon so that it will be safe for the players.
Are Ingress and Pokemon going to be the same world?
They are separate worlds from a gameplay point of view.
How are battles going to work? Are they going to be similar to Ingress portals?
Not much can be said at this time... but imagine if as in with Ingress there is a portal but instead it is maybe a secret base that has Pokemon inside.
Is there going to be a raising and trading aspect as well as battling?
Pokemon trading is an aspect that has a lot of thought put into it in all Pokemon games, and they are currently thinking of ways to facilitate it best within the mobile game.
