Sci-fi Survival MMO Population Zero Will Launch Into Steam Early Access In May

Enplex Games’ sci-fi survival MMO Population Zero is heading to Steam Early Access on May 5th. The game was initially planned as a free-to-play game but will be launching as buy-to-play instead. The game will also feature microtransactions in the form of cosmetic items and gear. The developers, however, assure players that these items will have no effect on gameplay.

Enplex says that they shifted to a different business model so that they could deliver the “best possible game for players.” Creative Director Denis Pozdnyakov explains further in a recent press release:

“The decision to change the monetization model from F2P to a one-time purchase has been made after a series of thorough discussions within the team and core community. The shift to B2P will allow the studio to continue the work on the game without fears of ‘pay to win’, as well as allowing us to release new game content that really enhances the gameplay.”

Population Zero will be priced at $29.99 with a 10% discount throughout the game’s Early Access run. You can now add the game to your Steam wishlist here. You can also watch the official Steam announcement trailer below.
