Afrofantasy MMORPG The Wagadu Chronicles Gets A Steam Early Access Launch Date
A few months ago, indie developer Twin Drums revealed that they were planning to launch The Wagadu Chronicles sometime this year. The studio has now confirmed that the Afrofantasy MMORPG will be making its way to Steam Early Access on December 4th.
The announcement was a bit light on the details but it does note that the early access build will mostly focus on roleplay mechanics and will feature a turn-based combat system that will allow up to 12 players on the battlefield at once, a rhythm-based fishing mini-game, an Oware-styled PvP mini-game, and upgradeable villages.
The Wagadu Chronicles first popped up on our radar back in September 2020 when Twin Drums launched a €100,000 Kickstarter campaign that managed to rake in nearly €164,000 in pledges (roughly $174,000). Since then the studio has released several art and gameplay previews and kicked off multiple alpha tests, the last of which ended back in April. Now, it’s just about ready to take the next big leap in the game’s development.
