It has been a while since War Thunder, but the combined arms vision is finally being realized as the company announced today that ships have finally made their way into the game. A number of test sessions will allow players to take part in naval battles for a small period of time. The first of these test sessions begins today and runs through Sunday.

The first set of ships includes "British fighting ships" from the early 18th century— other nations are set to be released at a later date. Each will be given its own "interactive damage model." To start, players will be given the "Golden Hind" galleon, a rank 1 ship from the British tech tree.

Gaijin Entertainment CEO Anton Yudintsev had the following to say about the announcement: "It’s been a very interesting and challenging task to recreate historic battles of the most powerful sailing nations. We started working on it last year, adding interactive water, and then a few days ago we added interactive weather conditions, which are very important for realistic sailing conditions. The weather can change from complete calm to raging storm."

You can find more information about the newly-added British ships on the official website.
