Fortnite is a free to play sandbox survival shooter developed and published by Epic Games - the company best known for developing the Unreal Engine. The game features a mode called "Battle Royale" which is similar to Playerunknown's Battlegrounds and Last Man Standing as it has 100 players landing on an island and whoever is the last person standing wins. While it's clear the game mode was HEAVILY inspired by Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, it does feature some unique sandbox crafting elements. The Battle Royale mode goes free to play on September 26th, 2017 with all of Fortnite going free to play sometime in 2018.
