Apex Legends Cross-Progression And Next-Gen Update Still In The Works Says Respawn Entertainment

Last week, Respawn Entertainment rolled out a big update called Emergence that introduced Seer as a new Legend along with major changes to the World’s Edge map. Now that the rush of a new update has settled down, players are now wondering when they’ll finally be getting the next most-requested feature after cross-play came out last fall: cross-progression.

Respawn Entertainment’s Director of Communications, Ryan Rigney, confirmed in an AMA thread on Reddit that cross-progression is currently slated for release sometime next year. Rigney itted that the release is taking a while due to the complexity of the task, which according to him is “gnarly as hell.” Recent measures to prevent DDoS attacks and thwart cheaters in Apex Legends and both Titanfall games have also delayed progress on the requested feature.

“We’re working on it, and we’re committed to delivering it,” Rigney said.

RIgney also confirmed that they’re currently working on a major graphics update that will take advantage of next-gen hardware to boost the game’s framerates to 120 fps. A release date for the update has yet to be announced. We can probably also expect the Seer to be nerfed in the near future.
