ARK: Survival Ascended Moves Up PS5 Launch As It Temporarily Disables Cross-Play On PC
It’s been a little over a month since ARK: Survival Ascended launched on PC and a week after it launched on Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation 5 s, however, have yet to start their journey in the dino-taming survival sandbox MMO as Studio Wildcard worked to get it certified for release on the console.
According to the developers, last minute issues caused the certification process to take longer than expected, thereby delaying the PS5 version’s launch to December. The good news is that Studio Wildcard has recently moved up the launch to later today at 9 a.m. PST.
Note that the official servers won’t be coming online until a few hours after to give everyone enough time to the game. This will ensure that everyone starts off at roughly the same time, particularly on the PvP servers.
Meanwhile, Studio Wildcard has temporarily blocked PC players from ing the cross-play PvP servers while they implement stricter anti-cheat measures for the PC version. The restriction will be lifted early next week.
“We apologize to our Windows players but we feel that this is the best course of action for the health of the game,” tweeted the devs. “Rest assured, your single-player experience and private servers that haven’t disabled Windows clients from ing remain unaffected. […] We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work towards ensuring a fair and secure gaming experience for all survivors.”
