Krafton Shows Off Use of AI Technology in PUBG (Realistic bot teammate) and inZOI (Realistic NPCs)

KRAFTON, the South Korean studio best known for PUBG, showed off 2 new trailers demonstrating their AI technology in PUBG and inZOI in collaboration with NVIDIA.

For PUBG, Krafton showed off PUBG Ally, which they bill as the world's first "co-playable charater". In simpler its just a more realistic bot teammate that players like a real human and can take voice commands from the player.

InZOI is an Sims like title that will use AI powered NPCs to create a more realistic world where NPCs react to the world and eachother.

Time will tell if these technologies make their way into other online games and MMOs, but given the pace of AI advancement it seems inevitable. The most obvious use of AI in video games will be realistic bots as both teammates and opponents. Krafton seems to be making some progress on this front.
