Mortal Online 2 Begins Testing Bear Mounts And Smoother Combat On March 8
one of the most requested features in the sandbox MMORPG – bear mounts. The test build also features improvements to the mount system, including major changes to the way mount stamina works.
Here’s a rundown of what’s changing stamina-wise:
- All mounts now drain and regenerate stamina at the same rate.
- All mounts now regenerate stamina quickly in second speed, and very slowly while in third speed.
- This means you can always ride in third speed without needing to slow down.
- All mounts now only drain stamina while boosting / sprinting (4th speed).
- All mounts have had their maximum stamina values rebalanced.
All mounts have had their speeds adjusted. Some very slightly, others more significantly.
“These changes are targeted at making travelling the world more enjoyable, as you should no longer need to slow down, dismount and run in a straight line while your mount regenerates stamina,” developer Star Vault explains.
“The rebalanced stamina amounts and boost / sprint speeds and drain rates are also intended to allow for more tactical decision making around when you choose to use your stamina to increase your speed, with certain mounts being better at shorter, faster sprints, while others are more suited for maintaining decent speeds for a longer time,” the studio added.
Combat improvements are also on deck to make melee fights flow more smoothly. These include a hot swap button to switch between primary and secondary weapon sets and the ability to hold down buttons to trigger or queue up attacks. The team has also brought back dismemberment mechanics so you can chop up your foes into itty bitty pieces.
Star Vault will be hosting a PTR event to allow players to get a better grasp of how these changes will work in actual combat. “[…] This event is planned to be a traditional two sided battle with randomized teams, one with banners and one without. However, depending on how it goes on the day we may be able to set up some more interesting and fun scenarios for those who attend, and of course everyone is welcome to hang around before and after the main event.”
Testing will run throughout the weekend, which should give testers just enough time to kick the tires of the next update. Details can be found in the PTR patch notes here.
