Mortal Online 2 Transitions To UE5 Alongside Various Gameplay Improvements

Mortal Online 2 has just received a major makeover as it officially makes the switch to Unreal Engine 5 with the release of Update 2.0. Players can now enjoy improved textures, enhanced lighting, and a better-looking game overall.

The visual upgrade, however, comes at the price of increased load on GPU’s. Developer Star Vault noted that they tried to keep the UE5 version’s performance at par with UE4 but were ultimately forced to adjust the minimum system requirements to avoid potential issues. You can check out the updated system requirements on Steam.

Star Vault also thanked testers for their during the series of playtests that were held over the past few months. The upgrade apparently broke most of the game world during testing but they’ve since been fixed thanks to the efforts of the beta testers.

The UE5 upgrade isn’t the only thing that went live with the update though. It also introduced new quest-giver NPCs who’ll be rewarding players with capes for their trouble, new camps and points-of-interest, and a fighting pit in Meduli. It also split the game world into guarded and wilderness areas and made several notable changes to the combat system. Those include the ability to regenerate stamina with each successful parry, increased minimum damage for click attacks, and the removal of equipment hits for all equipment types apart from shields.

The Update 2.0 release notes can be found on the Mortal Online 2 official site if you want to dive into the details.
