New World Finally Opens Cross-World Expeditions As Patch 4.0.4 Goes Live

New World players can finally embark on cross-world expeditions with the release of Patch 4.0.4, promising faster matchmaking times now that players can group up with players from any of the available servers.

“Similar to Outpost Rush, any player from any world within the same region can be matched together to form a new instance,” says Amazon. “This means significantly less time spent finding groups and more time running Expeditions. You also no longer need to build your own group by hand. These new Activities screens finally allow you to view any Expedition Entrance screen and Lobby Finder from a single list, instead of the Map.”

An expedition group consists of three DPS characters, one tank, and one healer, with bonus rewards granted to tanks and healers upon completing the expedition. One odd thing about the system is that premade groups will apparently automatically be disbanded once they’ve completed an expedition.

The update also adjusted abandonment penalties for expeditions, limits mutated expeditions to a maximum of three per week, and introduced various bug fixes. Producer Jorge Oseguera outlines Patch 4.0.4’s contents in the video below. You can also find it in written form on the New World official site.
