Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Plagued By Lag And Congestion Issues During Peak Hours

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis has been experiencing unexpected problems with lag since the PSO2 overhaul/sequel launched last week. In order to address the issues, the developers were forced to take the servers offline for emergency maintenance on Friday morning. The servers came back online a few hours later with most players reporting noticeable improvements except in a few heavily-populated areas.

“We have confirmed that some of these instances have been improved by these measures, however we have also confirmed that some instances still remain where operations become heavy,” the team noted. “We will continue to investigate and take measures towards improvement. We ask for your continued patience while we work to improve these instances. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

Of course, launch problems don’t exactly come as a surprise anymore. Nevertheless, the studio still received some backlash from the community on the game’s subreddit. As usual, these came in the form of negative comments, a parade of memes, and video clips.

More information can be found on the Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis official site.
