SMITE: Darkness Falls Update Introduces New Content And A New Map
SMITE as the ominously-named Darkness Falls update goes live on the servers. The update brings with it significant changes to the third-person MOBA, not the least of which is a revamped Assault map.
“Ragnarok has come and gone, transforming Asgard in the process. The Assault map has entirely new art set and some mechanical changes as well. The main goal for the Assault gameplay changes is to encourage more fighting. Some new areas and objectives have been added to the map to prevent stalemates and ensure the battle keeps raging.”
Aside from the new art style, the map also gets a few tweaks to its mechanics. God reroll costs have been reduced to 25 Gems or 125 Favor and tower physical damage decreased by 15%. A new objective called Vital Orbs has also been added to the map. These Orbs spawn in different areas of the map and grant movement speed, health, and mana buffs when players pick them up.
Newbies will also have an easier time progressing through the game with XP, Favor, BP, and Worshipers now being awarded for coop matches but at a lower rate than normal matches. The update also includes balance changes to 14 Gods, bug fixes, game improvements, and the icing on the cake, brand new skins.
